FERN coat with hand-embroidery
What began as an ode to Les Demoiselles d'Avignon quickly became an exploration of Les Demoiselles de New York-- who are the women of New York, and how are they best represented?
Fern is an oversized, 1980s herringbone wool coat embroidered with the faces of today, named after Picasso's lover at the time of his painting Demoiselles.
PROCESS: The Fern coat is hand-embroidered with faces to reflect the many moods, ethnicities, and cultures of New York City women. Each face takes some four hours to embroider, and is freehanded onto a vintage 1980s wool coat.
COLOR: Málaga. Named for the soft, warm hues of Picasso's hometown.
- Exterior: 100% wool
- Lining compositions for this coat are unknown, as we keep vintage linings to preserve the garment's integrity. Feels like silk.
FIT + MEASUREMENTS:
- 1980s oversized, relaxed batwing fit.
- Best recommended for sizes S-XL.
- 45" length
- 23.5" sleeve
- 26" flat chest
Please note: Each piece is a mix of vintage, new, or recycled components. While quality selection is a high priority, there may be slight imperfections, signs of age, or qualities typical of secondhand or vintage garments, which should be appreciated as part of the piece's unique history.
